The Santorini Caldera
The crescent-shaped Caldera of Santorini is the biggest gem in the Aegean and one of the most impressive places to visit in the world. Its current shape was formed more than 3500 years ago, when a huge volcanic eruption altered the Mediterranean topography for good.
Falakro’s landmark in the island of Lemnos or Limnos, is the volcanic formations, attributed to the «meeting» of lava with the sea. The dozens of shades of yellow of the frozen lava and the globular geological formations, next to the picturesque coves of the sea, are worth a visit.
Meteora
Meteora is a rock formation in Kalabaka in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries. The region boasts heavenly scenery showcasing brilliant beauty. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Meteora also possesses a trekking trail that is 12 km long.
Melissani Lake Cave
In Kefalonia, just outside of Sami, you will find the Melissani Cave. The turquoise blue waters in the first cavern are illuminated by the natural sky-light giving it an ethereal glow, while the adjoining room is shaded from the sun and home to impressive stalactites.
The Petrified Forest in Lesbos, is formed from the fossilized remains of plants, particularly fossilized tree trunks. Reminiscent of a scene from an apocalypse film, was formed by successive volcanic eruptions which took place between 17 and 20 million years ago, covering a large part of the island in lava and ash.
Diros cave
A vast cave structure located on the west coast of the Laconian peninsula which is experienced from an expertly guided boat.The largest cave of the Diros is Vlychada. It is one of the most beautiful caves in the world with dispositions of stalactites and stalagmites, formed millions of years ago.
Blue Caves of Zakynthos
