ALL WE SEE IS THE SEA
In this country, the Greeks, its friends and its visitors, all we see is the sea as an element of freedom, unity, endless possibilities, extraordinary journeys, unknown secrets and unchartered waters. So here is why all we see this summer is the sea…
… because it embraces 6,000 Greek islands & islets
The Greek islands offer deserted beaches, active volcanoes and everything in between.
… because it offers 581 Blue Flag awarded beaches
With 519 Blue Flag beaches, Greece ranks in second place globally among 47 countries. Out of the total number of countries that participate in the program, Greece has 12 percent of total awards. So make sure to enjoy long swimming sessions, sailing, diving and collecting seashells of course!
… because it’s the home of amazing sea creatures
Striped dolphins, loggerhead turtles, endangered monk seals, and even whales are only a few of the spectacular sea creatures nestling in the Greek seas. As of this, we would like to encourage you to search more about a destination’s biodiversity before visiting and be respectful and kind towards all living creatures and sustain their natural environment.
… because is a happy place for millions of locals & tourists
The sound of the waves, the salty air breeze, the feeling of the water, the long diving sessions, the relaxed moments on the seashore and more are the natural reliefs, a lot of people are seeking throughout their holidays. The sea enables us to swim our worries away, relax and unwind, feel creative and inspired.
… because it’s the inspiration behind a lot of ancient myths and stories
The sea has two major roles in Greek mythology. It is associated with the voyage into Hades, and as the primordial water, Oceanus, it represents vitality and even eternal life, which are fundamentally antinomic.
Even if there is not an official meaning for the Greek flag, it is said that its colours, white and blue, identify the traditional colours of Greece with blue symbolising the sky and the sea, and white representing the clouds and the waves.
