In a recent article, Bild says that despite the global coronavirus health crisis, Greece, Croatia, Austria and Switzerland “are not in danger” from Covid-19.
According to Bild’s correspondent Liana Spyropoulou, more than one third of tourists from Central and Eastern Europe travel to Greece by car. The same applies for countries like Germany that have successfully managed to contain the pandemic. Consequently, their citizens will be the first to travel to Greece this year.
Greece is among the countries that German newspaper Bild proposes as “safe destinations” for summer holidays this year.
Meanwhile, Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis told Bild that Greece will continue its successful policy against Covid-19 with the aim to gradually ease restrictions as of early May.
“Large city hotel units will be the last to open. I believe we will be ready in June,” he said.
Theoharis also stressed that European stakeholders should agree on common rules that would ensure the safety of tourists.
