FORBES: GREECE MOST-BOOKED EUROPEAN DESTINATION FOR SUMMER
The magazine reports that Greece already has a jump on its E.U. partners and the travel deal-finding site Hopper reveals that so far, the last two months, its users have booked more summer flights to our country than to anywhere else in Europe.
According to the site’s economist, Adit Damodaran, booking volume for Athens is «up significantly» compared to the same period in 2019, before the pandemic broke out. In May, bookings through Hopper to Europe were up 38 percent compared to April as more travelers searched for places they can visit hassle-free.
Forbes also notes that never in the past have there been so many non-stop flights from the US to Greece, with dozens of new routes to Athens from Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. One of the main reasons why Americans are booking getaways to our country is that flights from the U.S. to Athens cost 18% less this summer than they did in 2019.
It is worth mentioning that this summer travelers can visit Greece by either presenting proof of vaccination, a negative PCR test result taken 72 hours before travel, or a Covid-19 recovery certificate.
