GREECE’S 2021 OSCARS ENTRY ‘APPLES’
His film “Apples,” called “an unforgettable, prescient cinematic experience” by actress Cate Blanchett, who believed in the work so fervently that she decided to fund it as a co-executive producer, opened at the Horizons section of the 2020 Venice Film Festival.
Amidst a worldwide pandemic that causes sudden amnesia, Aris finds himself enrolled in a recovery program designed to help unclaimed patients build new identities. Prescribed daily tasks on cassette tapes so he can create new memories and document them on camera, Aris slides back into ordinary life, meeting Anna, a woman who is also in recovery.
Apples has already been warmly received in international film festivals, such as the 77th Venice International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere, the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival, the 33rd Tokyo Film Festival, the Telluride Film Festival and the 56th Chicago International Film Festival where it was awarded the Silver Hugo-Best Screenplay award in the international feature film competition.
