Source: Unique Destination
Located in Kamena Vourla, Galini Wellness Spa & Resort is a hotel complex that combines with harmony the astonishing characteristics of the mountain Knimis, the freshness of the sea breeze and the neoclassical style of the building structure. This unique wellness resort has an exemplar spa, which is spread out on a 3,000 sq.m. property and offers a range of health and beauty treatments.
The indoor hydrotherapy pool, the thermal pool and the Whirlpool Spa (JAZZI) are an inexpensive pleasure for everyone to relax mind and body. The spa philosophy is an inspiration from the East which offers the latest health tourism treatments. The hydrotherapies use sea water or thermal water, aromatherapies or color therapies, together with peelings, body masks, beauty and health packages.
These packages consist of physical therapy with thermal water, mud masks, lymphatic massages, reflexology, intense therapies for cellulite and belly fat, buttocks and thighs and anti – wrinkle or reconstructive face therapies. The thermal sources of Kamena Vourla, the water of which is used in the Galini Hotel’s spa, are radioactive sources (rare sources) and are known to occupy a particular place among thermal sources, thanks to their radioactive elements’ appreciable and multiple effects on the organism, such as radon, which is also the main carrier of those elements’ radioactivity.
The thermal waters’ therapeutic action is due on one side to radon transmutation and on the other side to the radioactive elements, which the water acquires from the rocks it encounters along its route. The radon either penetrates the organism through the skin or through the respiratory ways. Only a small amount can penetrate through the skin and remains in the organism for about 1 to 2 hours after the bath. When it penetrates through the respiratory ways, the radon enters the organism during the bath and is diffused into the blood within 15 minutes and then into the tissues. Radon therefore has a lot of positive effects on neuralgia, on neuritis, on the expulsion of uric acid, on the hepatic and glandular cells, on the lungs and adrenal glands, on the balance of the sympathetic & parasympathetic nervous system.
The hotel, hidden in a valley of eucalyptus trees, is the perfect base for excursions in areas like Meteora and Delphi with great tourist attractions. Nearby the ancient Greek lovers will find the historical area of Thermopylae. The area where the three day battle took place in 480 BC, between the 300 Spartans soldiers of King Leonidas and the huge Persian army of Xerxes, is a narrow coastal pass between the north and south of Greece. Built on the cliffs around the mountain Knimis, Kamena Vourla provides an exquisite view from all corners. Across from Kamena Vourla on the west side of north Evia lays Lihadonisia, a cluster of islands, called “Seychelles” by the locals. This group of islands, Lihadonisia, emerged after a big earthquake thousands of years ago. During the past years there were inhabitants, but today no one lives there any longer; they are protected natural areas. The islands are a perfect sea destination for one day excursions and explorations.
For mountain lovers, Knimis that shadows over Kamena Vourla, is a perfect destination. For hikers, cyclists and mountain climbers there are beautiful paths, for example Mega Revma Mnimidas, Ephialtes and Karya with green forests and lakes. Knimis, a part of Kalidromo, is one of the most interesting areas of Central Greece. It has a very impressive vegetation consisting of strawberry trees, pines, oaks, holly and fir trees, which arises at 600 m. above sea level. The traditional village is hidden in the mountain with a medieval castle and a folklore museum that attracts tourism. The Monastery of Metamorfosis of Sotiros that lays 4 km from Kamena Vourla, at 310 m above sea level has a Byzantine architecture of the 12th century and a view that takes your breath away.
