Kastri Island
Kastri Island is only around 150-200 metres from the shore of Kos, but it really looks a million miles away.
Hippocrates Tree
This huge old tree is around 500 years old and is claimed to be the largest in Europe.
Palio Pili
If you have a car make sure to spend a day travelling across the island’s interior, where you’ll happen upon delightful little villages, like the abandoned Palio Pili.
Plaka Forest
Plaka Forest has a popular recreation area, with picnic tables where you can meet the many peacocks and tame cats that live here with the help of a volunteer keeper.
Bicycle rides
Kos is a bicycle-friendly place, with many cycling lanes like the one runs by Zouroudi beach, or the other one stretching 13k crosses the city and reaches Psalidi at one end and Faros beach at its other end.
Mastichari Beach
Mastihari is an exotic beach with soft, white sand and emerald water. Many windsurfing centres are located along this beach.
Therma Beach
Surprisingly hot springs mix with seawater in a shallow pool created by a semi-circle of rocks off the shoreline, to provide a relaxing, therapeutic sensation for bathers, accompanied by a sulphurous aroma.
Posa Cheese/ Wine Cheese
The locals make a goat cheese and they put it in red wine in order to mature. After a while, the cheese has a special gentle spiciness that you shouldn’t miss.
Cretan Raki
Cretan Raki is a local distilled alcoholic drink, a clear and fragrant liquor which visitors are offered as an expresses Cretan hospitality.
