MITSIS CSR PROGRAMME: A STORY OF CHANGE
We aim to empower the local communities of our destinations, supporting local residents, businesses, products, events and cultural actions. We focus on local recruitment and educate our employees on local community engagement. We support the local primary sector and provide financial and in-kind sponsorship for local events, encouraging our guests’ and employees’ participation. Aiming to tackle hunger, we support the work of the Municipalities and Holy Metropolises of our destinations and provide meal vouchers to our employees undergoing food insecurity. Furthermore, we support local residents in times of crisis, providing financial and in-kind assistance to earthquake, fire and other disaster victims of our destinations.
A significant aspect of our commitment to our surroundings is our collaboration with distinguished NGOs, including our long-term partnerships with Make-A-Wish Greece, Ark of the World and HOPEgenesis. Simultaneously, the establishment of the Blood Donor Volunteer Association ‘Mitsis Group of Companies’ with the participation of our employees and guests makes a valuable contribution to the blood banks of our destinations.
At Mitsis Hotels, we are enchanted with our Greek history, making the most of our impeccable Greek essence and embodying the values of being a proud Greek: Mediterranean life, culture and history. We aim to bring tradition alive, highlighting our destinations’ historical places and moments, sponsoring local cultural festivals and encouraging the participation of our guests and employees. Through our F&B outlets and local purchasing policy, we aim to showcase local gastronomy, exposing guests to local products and producers. Moreover, Mitsis Hotels collaborates with Marketing Greece to upgrade the qualitative aspects of Greek tourism and promote the country as an attractive destination.
Being home to 3,500 employees and 350,000 guests annually, and influencing the lives of the 4,000,000 residents of our destinations, we aspire to be flexible and adaptable to individual needs and celebrate the uniqueness of each individual. Enriched by everyone, we aim to enhance diversity and foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for our employees and guests. We provide employee care, create a holistic benefits programme for our team members and adapt to special needs by ensuring that all our renovated properties are accessible to people with disabilities.
In the light of a new era in the tourism industry and always seeking to adjust to the mindset of new generations, we are constantly looking out for new growth prospects, creating new brands, products and services. We aim to be a leading force of change, leading technological innovation, supporting scientific conferences and promoting technological initiatives. We are committed to our employees’ personal and professional development, offering extensive and ongoing training seminars across all departments.
We aim to support the young talents of our destinations, offering financial or hospitality sponsorship to over 10 local sports teams and athletes of our destinations, including the wheelchair basketball team GS Dodecanese. Mitsis Hotels is also a proud Gold Sponsor of GreenTechChallenge, the largest national green innovation programme for the promotion of new innovative ideas that address significant environmental challenges, including the achievement of sustainable tourism.
Sustainable development lays at the heart of Mitsis Hotels and we recognise that our progress is interdependent with the prosperity of our destinations. We are concerned about the planet, continuously minimising our environmental impact and protecting the biodiversity of our destinations. In the context of our environmental programme ‘LIFE, our green project’, we organise a series of environmental initiatives, including local reforestations with the participation of employees and guests. We are also proud of our collaboration with WWF Greece for the ‘Hotel Kitchen’ and ‘Adopt a Beach’ initiatives to protect the coastal areas of our destinations and minimise food waste, respectively. Green teams are formed in all of our 17 hotels, responsible for the coordination of CSR activities and the implementation of environmental and sustainability training for all employees.
