MITSIS HOTELS ROLLS OUT €500M INVESTMENT PROGRAM ON RHODES, MYKONOS, CRETE
Speaking during the 7th Delphi Economic Forum recently, the group’s president Christina Mitsis said the circumstances were right for Greece to achieve further tourism growth. “The Covid-19 pandemic is just a circumstance and people are eager to travel again. Meanwhile, the Greek government has created the right conditions for more investments to take place in Greece,” she said.
Brand new hotels on the islands of Rhodes, Mykonos and Crete
Mitsis Hotels’ five-year investment plan includes the development of a unique tourism destination in the Golf-North Afantou area on the island of Rhodes. The group recently acquired a 1,350-stremma plot and plans include the creation of three hotels, a marina and a shopping mall. Mitsis Hotels will also develop a new hospitality property of 225 rooms and villas, and most likely a marina, on a 150-stremma plot on the island of Mykonos. The group is also in discussions with local entrepreneurs on Crete to acquire two hotels outside Heraklion. Moreover, Mitsis Hotels is planning to turn an old factory located next to the Piraeus port into a 150-room boutique hotel.
The ambitious programme of the past four years was completed successfully, involving various tourism projects and including the purchase of the historic 5* hotel, Mitsis Grand Hotel Beach Hotel, in the centre of Rhodes.
Mitsis Hotels is collaborating with renowned international architects, master planners and interior designers, including WATG and Wimberly Interiors, to continuously upgrade the Group’s facilities and customise its services to better meet guests’ evolving needs.
At Mitsis Norida Beach Hotel in Kos, there have been introduced five new concept pools, creating intimate spaces for guests while three brand-new à la carte restaurants were also added to enrich the hotel’s F&B offering and amaze guests with impeccable tastes. At Mitsis Summer Palace Beach Hotel in Kos, the creation of terraced pools has allowed for an impressive panoramic sea view and a new Mediterranean restaurant has become the new hub of the hotel. A rooftop sunset bar and a family-oriented restaurant experience with barbecue tables and sand underfoot are also introduced to maximise guests’ Mediterranean experience. Refurbishment of rooms includes the introduction of sophisticated, modern materials and plunge pools, creating a sense of luxury and privacy. At Mitsis Rinela Beach Resort & Spa in Crete, 192 rooms have already been upgraded to brand new superior types, featuring suites and villas, appealing to a broader customer profile and contributing to repeated visitation. Animated garden spaces with running water and fragrant Mediterranean vegetation further contribute to the calming ambience of the resort. New gardens are added to the rooftops of adjoining villas to optimise real estate and contribute to sustainability efforts. In early 2022, over 100 were renovated into superior new types and a Secret Bar was created.
Further projects include new investments, the renovation of 140 guest rooms at Mitsis Rodos Village Beach Hotel & Spa and a new retail experience at Mitsis Blue Domes Resort & Spa.
