Mitsis N’U Piraeus Port wins Merit Distinction at the Grail Awards 2025!
The spatial organization of the old Metaxa distillery played a key role in shaping the ground floor layout, which houses the reception area, restaurant, and essential service spaces for the hotel’s operation. The visitor’s journey through the communal areas is marked by a series of carefully crafted wooden arches, which both define individual functional zones and create a cohesive visual identity for the space. Their design is inspired by the geometric analysis of barrels, arranged in a grid-like structure, which were characteristic of the storage areas in the former distillery.
The hotel’s color palette draws inspiration from the local landscape and cultural memory. Shades of blue, reflecting the sky and sea, blend with the warm golden tones of Greek summer light, culminating in amber hues reminiscent of Metaxa cognac.
Finally, the guest experience at Mitsis N’U Piraeus Port is enriched by the presence of murals and sculptures in both public and private areas, created by renowned artists Costas Varotsos, Konstantin Kakanias, and Iason Megoulas (Cacao Rocks).
