Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2024
The Pantone Color Institute is an important organization that uses color theory to interpret trends. They delve into fashion, design and “socio-economic conditions” for inspiration. Every year Pantone chooses its main color. Interior designers, corporate art consultants and other industry art professionals refer to Pantone when their clients are redecorating and buying art and want to know what’s new.
This color of the year summons visions of autumn leaves, glorious sunsets and creamy orange popsicles. Its many neighboring colors include terra cotta, russet and burnt orange.
As an artist, if you work frequently with interior designers and decorators it will be useful to have information about color trends. When your artwork and the art market are compatible it’s a way to increase your art sales.
For example, if a new color trend is announced you can share this information with a photo of you art with this color. Use it in your art blog posts and email newsletters and share other attributes of your artwork. Reach out to your collectors and suggest they bring this color into their homes with your art that uses the color.
Pantone describes the color of 2024 Red Orange as “a heated gregarious orange tone both spontaneous and self-assured.” You’ll see this color take center stage in many new interior design photographs and on the fashion runways.
Consider using the color in small amounts for accents and it may pose a new creative challenge for you in 2024 and may increase your art sales. And, that’s always a good idea.
