PUBLIC GARDENS EMBELLISMENT IN RHODES CITY BY MITSIS HOTELS
One of the most important buildings in Mandraki area, is the Church Evangelismos (Annunciation). It is the work of the architects Florestano Di Fausto and Rodolfo Petracco and was built in 1925, during the Italian occupation. Although the design is heavily influenced by the church of St. John located in the Medieval Town of Rhodes, it remains a magnificent example of Gothic architecture. The decoration elements are all carved from the local, very characteristic sandstone. The same stone is used in the Medieval Town and the most important buildings of the modern city. This church is also dedicated to St. John. The interior is decorated with fantastic byzantine murals by Fotis Kontoglou.
Among the actions were the cleaning of the area, grass clearing, pruning of ornamental trees and palm trees, installation of automatic watering system, planting new flowers, shrubs and herbs, painting flower beds as well as cleaning and maintenance of fountain pumps.
For its remarkable performance, Mitsis Hotels has been awarded several prizes by local and international tour operators and travel organizations in recognition of the high quality of the services provided, its contribution to upgrading local tourism and its respect for the environment.
