RHODES GETS GREEN LIGHT AS A SAFE DESTINATION
Safe Corridor is a pilot holiday program organized for the 1st time on April 12 by Sunweb Group in collaboration with Transavia, approved by the Dutch & Greek governments. Considering the health & safety of its guests a top priority and having drawn up a detailed action plan and operational protocols, Mitsis Grand Hotel, the only 5* ultra all-inclusive beach hotel at the heart of Rhodes, hosted for 8 days 188 selected guests out of 25,000 initial applicants. All guests and 100 hotel staff members completed the program totally healthy and safe, conveying an optimistic message for the safe restart of tourism to the world.
Aiming to collect data on safe and responsible travel during the pandemic, ‘Safe Corridor’ was carried out with detailed health & safety protocols that included PCR and Rapid tests prior arrival to and before departure from Greece, which were all negative, while all guests will take a new PCR test upon returning home. Respectively, the hotel staff underwent PCR testing before the start and at the end of the program. To ensure the success of the project, all guests and direct contact staff remained exclusively within the hotel premises, enjoying the specially designed entertainment program and dining at the hotel’s open-space restaurants and bars.
The program received a warm welcome and sincere support from all competent authorities. All visitors left for their homeland, excited by the Greek hospitality and the excellent services, assuring that they will return to Greece for their summer holidays. As Mitsis Hotels Managing Director, Stavros Mitsis stated, «the successful outcome of the project contributes to the promotion of Greece as a safe holiday destination and marks the smooth start of the tourist season and the gradual return to normalcy».
