THE BEST DAY TRIPS FROM RHODES
Symi is one of the most picturesque islands of the Dodecanese that was named after a nymph. It is a visual treat with its colorful buildings and imposing churches and has one of the most stunningly beautiful, neo-classical harbours in Greece. Gialos, the harbor area, is very small but lined with little cafes, fish and seafood restaurants, sponge and spice stalls.
Kastellorizo is also called “Megisti” that means “the biggest”, which is rather interesting, as it is actually the smallest of Dodecanese islands. It is a quiet choice, as the absence of the many tourists make it very peaceful, the ideal getaway! The colourful and welcoming port is definitely a must-see. To visit Kastellorizo you may take the boat from Mandraki harbor on Rhodes and the duration is about 2.5 hours.
Situated around 6km to the west of the island of Rhodes, Chalki is the smallest inhabited island of the Dodecanese. The only town is Nimporio, a picturesque place that surrounds the main port of the island. There are daily local ferries to Chalki from the small port of Ancient Kamiros in Rhodes. In case you are fond of long walks and secluded beaches, this is the place for you.
